April 2025
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Schools will administer the SAT School Day to Grade 11 students this spring. The SAT is a nationally recognized college- and career-readiness assessment from the College Board.
Because this test is West Virginia's high school accountability exam, all public school students in
Grade 11 will participate in the SAT School Day, unless they meet the criteria for participation in
the West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment. Grade 12 students are not eligible to take the
state-provided SAT School Day.
The SAT School Day will be administered online at your student's high school or a countyapproved
off-site location during a regular school day. Students will NOT pay a fee to take this
test. Each school will provide additional information regarding their plans for testing, including
this year's test date.
The SAT School Day is accepted at colleges and universities throughout West Virginia and the
nation for both college admissions and placement and can be used to qualify for the PROMISE
Scholarship.
Students receive scores in reading/writing, math, and science. Student scores will appear in each
student's College Board account a few weeks after they complete the test. Students who provide
their cell phone number when taking the test will receive a link to download the College Board's
BigFuture Schools application, which will allow students to retrieve their scores on their phone
and will provide students access to college and career planning resources.

I respectfully request that you encourage your student to perform to the best of their ability
during the SAT School Day this spring. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the school
or the county board of education office.
Sincerely,
Michele L. Blatt
