St. Marys High School has been named a 2022 Champion of College Access & Success by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. SMHS was one of the 38 schools of 239 eligible schools to achieve the benchmarks to receive this designation.
West Virginia's high schools are evaluated on efforts of the school to work with students to inform students of opportunities in higher education and career paths, the participation of the high school's students in college, and other success rate factors of the school's students. Counselors Susan Travers and Loura Rinard represented SMHS at the award ceremony in Charleston on October 11.
This news adds to the recent list of designations for SMHS by national and state accreditation agencies, as four of the school's students were named to College Board's National Academic Recognition Program with more national accolades to be announced soon.
