Parent Resource- Understanding Dyslexia: A Guide for Parents Learning for Lifelong Success Information provided by WVDE

The West Virginia Department of Education has provided information for parents for Understanding Dyslexia.

All students in Pleasants County grades K-8 are screened, although we are only required to screen K-3. Our students are screened when they take their reading diagnostic. Although the diagnostic cannot identify every occurrence of dyslexia, it is a "front line" screener. The diagnostic also cannot diagnose a student with dyslexia, it can only identify patterns; the student would then be referred to the Student Assistance Team process, and an official diagnosis would require testing.
